In detail
What your IT department will ask.
Where the index lives
Orbit builds a searchable index of your folders and keeps it on the same
machine, in its own application data folder. The index never leaves the
computer. Removing a folder in Settings removes it from the index.
What reaches the model
On the standard version: your question, and the passages that match it.
A passage is an extract — a few lines around what matched — not a file.
Whole documents are never sent, and neither is the index.
Running with nothing leaving
Orbit can be pointed at a model running inside your own network instead.
In that configuration no question and no passage crosses your boundary,
and Orbit needs no outbound internet access to answer.
What Orbit will not do
It does not send email. It does not file or submit anything to a
regulator, a bank or a portal. It cannot change a document you already
had. Each of those is a person's decision, and Orbit is not given the
means to make it for you.
A statement written from the real settings
Every installation can generate its own data-and-security statement,
built from the settings actually switched on at that moment rather than
from a brochure. Give that to your IT department instead of asking them
to take this page on trust.
